Compost

We use one rotating JORA compost and two Master Line composts. We use the rotating JORA composter primarily. If both bins are full in the rotating JORA compost, and there is not yet soil that can be emptied, use the Master Line composter that is running.

  • We compost food waste such as raw, boiled, fried and smoked.

  • If you have big food waste like a whole head of cabbage or a whole loaf of bread you need to divide it into smaller pieces before putting it in the compost.

  • Use the grey compost hink (which is placed underneath the coffee maker), to drain the food waste during the day. The food waste must be drained before putting it in the compost or otherwise the compost will be too wet.

  • Always add 10 percent sawdust to the JORA compost at the same time you put your food waste in it. You find the sawdust is in the lightblue box by the compost.

  • Always rotate the compost after adding foodwaste (at least once a day).
